Hi All,

The Bowls Greens in Waterloo Square opens on the 27th April 2024. Only 88 days to go to the start of the 2024 Bowls season!

As we await the new Bowls season to start I have been watching the World Indoor Bowls Championships - I am always amazed how accurate the bowlers are and so consistent. Something that I will need lots more practice on when the outdoor season starts!

CLUB MEMBERSHIP - You will have received your invite to renew your Bowls membership this year together with a list of the internal club Competitions that you are able to enter. Please return the completed Renewal and Competition forms to Hilly Ayton or place in the RAFA Club post box by the bar area.

PARTY TIME - There will be a pre-season party on 19th April 2024 at the RAFA Club at 7.30pm. Make a note of this date in your diaries.

WEBSITE - For those of you that have recently joined our club website can you add your contact details - phone number etc. Also can everyone add a photo. If you need any help just telephone me - 07596 444693. We now have 32 members registered on the Bowls website.

Remember, once registered on the website you can put your name forward for all matches throughout the season - just login to the website and tick your availability on each match under the "Fixtures" section.

2024 MATCHES; New matches/competitions/Other dates added -  The Bowls fixtures for 2024 have now been finalised. You will now find all of the dates for matches on our website by clicking on the following link https://www.lovebowls.co.uk/matches?skip=0&search=&fix=true . If you have logged in to your account you can put your name forward for any matches throughout the season. For Away matches there is also a link on the website giving you directions to the Club.

Hilly will also be sending out Fixture Lists once you renew your membership this year.

BOWLS REFRESHER COURSE - We will be running three Bowls Refresher sessions at the Waterloo Bowls Green on the following dates;

Thursday 2nd May 2024   10.30 - 11.30 am

Thursday 9th May 2024    10.30 - 11.30 am

Thursday 16th May 2024  10.30 - 11.30 am

Please make a note in your diaries and come along.

Lyn has kindly agreed to run these sessions for us with help from Mike and myself.   All members are encouraged to attend.

COMPETITIONS - Lots of Competitions to play again this year. Make sure you enter as many as you can. Boozebusters is certainly a great team event to put your name forward for --- Good fun. If you would like any further information on any of the Competitions please contact Tony Wells.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD - Our first RAFA Bowls Section "Life Member" was appointed in January - Beryl Burridge.

Beryl - a previous keen outdoor player, Captain, Competitions Secretary, Selection Team member and Committee member. Beryl continues to support the RAFA Bowls in the summer and is also an active Carpet Bowls member at our weekly gatherings during the winter season.
